Kamal Haasan in Indian 2
Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's latest movie, Indian 2, had a disastrous run in theatres. As the film faces the possibility of becoming one of the biggest box office flops of 2024, it seems to be getting ready to make its streaming debut soon.
According to some reports, Indian 2 will start streaming on Netflix on August 9. An official confirmation on the same, however, is awaited. This update comes amid several unpleasant rumours surrounding the movie.
Speculations were rife about growing differences between the streaming giant, Netflix, and Lyca Productions. It was claimed that Netflix was trying to renegotiate the terms with Lyca to bring down the price for licensing Indian 2. However, a Netflix source has exclusively confirmed to Desimartini that this is not true.
As per reports, Netflix bagged the streaming rights to Indian 2 for a whopping cost exceeding Rs 100 crore. It is touted to be one of the most expensive pre-release deals in the Tamil film industry.

The streaming deal is set to bring relief to Lyca, which is already believed to be in a serious cash crunch and also has two major big-star movies in production. Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan and Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi are fast nearing completion and are expected to hit the screens soon.
Come back Indian!
Writer-director Shankar has revived the Indian franchise after a gap of 28 years. In the sequel, Indian Thatha is forced to come out of his self-imposed exile to fight the menace of corruption, which has spiralled out of control in the country.
Not just Indian Thatha, but India as a country has also changed drastically. Indian Thatha seems to be clueless about how to deal with the comfort of the general public with the practice of bribe-taking and giving.
Indian 2, however, was panned by critics and audiences alike, with many calling it the worst film in Shankar's career.
