Despite getting mostly positive reviews from critics, Vikram Vedha could not achieve a big opening weekend figure. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, the film grossed just Rs 38 crore(approx) at the box office in three days of its release.
Although the film’s collection has been rising constantly, it has not shown any terrific numbers. On Day 1, it managed to rake in Rs 10.58 crore, and the following day (Saturday) witnessed a jump of over 25% to collect Rs 12.50 Crore. Further, it saw a little more upward trend on Day 3 (Sunday) to mint a collection of Rs 14.50 Crore. As per reports, the worldwide collection stands at Rs 65 crore.
Well, the underwhelming box office numbers of the film can be attributed to its average performance at mass circuits like Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, and Hyderabad. Kolkata fetched decent numbers, however, it failed to impress the single-screen audience despite being an action entertainer. Also, low-key promotion worked against the movie. However, it is expected that the collection will grow in the coming days as the festival Dussehra is just around the corner.
Vikram Vedha, the crime-thriller is the Hindi remake of the 2017 Tamil film of the same name that starred Vijay Sethupati and R Madhavan in the lead role. In the remake, Hrithik plays gangster Vedha, and Saif Ali Khan essays police officer Vikram. Directed by Pushkar and Gayatri, who also helmed the original, the film is inspired by the tales of Vikram-Betaal, and follows the story of a tough cop Vikram who sets out to track and chase a dreaded gangster Vedha. Presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and Reliance Entertainment in association with Friday Filmworks and Jio Studios and a YNOT Studios Production, Vikram Vedha was released on September 30.
