Based on the responses that the cast and crew have received so far, Thangalaan is expected to surpass the biggest hits in Vikram's career. Dhananjayan praised Vikram's commitment to the promotion, revealing how Vikram was ready to endure long road trips and face other challenges head-on while promoting the movie across the country.
Thangalaan is a period drama that revolves around the discovery of the Kolar gold mines, which was also the core plot of the Kannada blockbuster KGF franchise.
"KGF was a fantasy. This is based on real-life incidents. We celebrated Asuran, Aadukalam, and Karnan previously. Similarly, we will also celebrate this movie," Dhananjayan remarked.
In Thangalaan, Vikram plays a tribal chief who joins forces with British officers to discover and mine the gold in Karnataka.
"Thangalaan is a dream project in Ranjith sir's career. It's a story set in the 19th century. We are now talking about the Kolar gold mines, thanks to the KGF 1 and 2 fantasy films. But this film traces the story of the real KGF. What was the real KGF like? How did people in that world behave, and how did the British exploit them? Ranjith sir has made a beautiful movie," he added.
