Updated : October 01, 2024 03:25 PM ISTAfter trimming close to 18 minutes of the 2-hour-57-minute-long Meiyazhagan following the 'feedback of the audiences', movie-goers have now expressed their dissatisfaction.
Meiyazhagan
Karthi and Arvind Swamy’s latest film Meiyazhagan opened to an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences, who praised the makers for crafting an emotional and soul-stirring drama after a long time. However, it was recently announced that the film had been trimmed by 18 minutes, with the new version now being screened in all theaters.
Following this update, many viewers wondered what exactly had been cut from the 2-hour-57-minute-long film. Some were perplexed by the decision to trim the film, as the runtime had not faced any criticism from audiences. In fact, many expressed that the almost 3-hour duration didn’t feel long, thanks to its immersive experience.

One X user commented, “Looks like they completely misunderstood. These scenes are vital layers. Only a Tamil hater would want these scenes removed.”
All these scenes were good, the one they've to take is Karthi giving ridiculous clues on phone 😭

Atleast one Jallikattu scene should have been there, Sterlite removal is good though 👍🏻
Chozha history was informative
Criticizing the makers' decision to trim the film to appeal to commercial audiences, another user wrote, “The trimmed version took away its essence. I don’t know why people can't accept 10-15 minutes of lag in a 3-hour movie. The second oration scene is the core plot where Meiyazhagan feels the weight of every bad thing around him, and that defines him. Trimming those scenes makes him seem like a narrow-minded family man being friendly with nature. The makers really made a terrible choice to trim!”

These scenes are not there in the Telugu version from the release date itself. In Telugu the movie is doing very well Maybe that's why the makers have decided to remove them

Many viewers who watched both versions expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision to cut vital scenes. However, the Telugu version of the film, titled Satyam Sundaram, was released with the trimmed version from day one and has been running successfully in theaters.

As I finished reading “Meiyazhagan” a great sense of love and compassion filled my heart and I instantly wanted all of you to experience the same. I know it was a different genre but I was willing. This day I cannot express how grateful I am, to all of you, for…
