One of the most-awaited films among fans of Malayalam cinema is Bougainvillea, written and directed by Amal Neerad. The movie made a strong impression with its character posters, teasing a thrilling and stylish cinematic experience a few months ago. On Thursday, the filmmakers confirmed that Bougainvillea will arrive in cinemas on October 10.
The announcement comes just a day after Lyca Productions revealed Fahadh Faasil’s character from Vettaiyan, which stars Superstar Rajinikanth. Fahadh plays a character named Patrick in the film, written and directed by TJ Gnanavel.
Vettaiyan is also set to release worldwide on October 10. Not only in Tamil Nadu, but Vettaiyan is also expected to open strong in Kerala, posing significant competition to Bougainvillea. However, the producers of Bougainvillea remain confident in the film's potential to overcome the challenges posed by the Rajinikanth-starrer and thrive at the Kerala box office.

Details about Bougainvillea remain scarce, but it has already generated considerable hype among Malayalee audiences. Amal Neerad co-wrote the screenplay with writer Lajo Jose. According to reports, the film is a big-screen adaptation of Jose’s novel Ruthinte Lokam, though official confirmation is still awaited.
Bougainvillea is believed to be a psychological crime thriller, marking the big-screen comeback of Jyothirmayi after an 11-year hiatus. She was last seen in the 2013 Malayalam movie Housefull.
The buzz suggests the film revolves around Kunchacko Boban’s character, with Fahadh Faasil playing a pivotal role. The cast also includes Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar, and Srinda.
Amal Neerad’s previous directorial venture, Bheeshma Parvam, starring Mammootty, was a critical and commercial success, partly inspired by the Indian epic Mahabharata.
