Updated : December 29, 2023 08:36 AM ISTThe Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki witnesses a sharp decline in its collections on its 8th day.
While the Shah Rukh Khan film starrer Dunki started off on decent note minting Rs 29.2 crore on its opening day, it is now witnessing a decline in its collections. On its 8th day which was a Thursday (December 28), the film saw a drastic dip and minted in single digits. The film marks the first collaboration between the superstar and Rajkumar Hirani.
Talking about the same, according to a news report in Sacnilk, the movie earned Rs 9 crore on its 8th day. The total collections of the movie at the Indian box office now stands at Rs 161.1 crore. The improvement in the numbers of the collections will only decide how quickly Dunki enters the Rs 200 crore mark. The movie has witnessed a comparatively weaker performance as compared to Shah Rukh’s previous two blockbusters Pathaan and Jawan. The mixed reviews from the masses along with a tough competition from the Prabhas starrer Salaar might be the reason for the film moving at the box office at a sluggish pace.

The film also stars Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover in pivotal roles with Vicky Kaushal in a cameo appearance. Dunki is based on the concept of ‘Donkey Flight’ which witnesses immigrants traveling abroad through an illegal route without any visa or a passport. It revolves around Shah Rukh’s Hardy helping a group of friends to travel to London without any visa or a passport.
Desimartini’s review for Dunki reads, “The first half is where you’d see glimpses of the genius of Hirani in translating complex emotions with ease on screen, hitting the audiences right in the gut when they least expect it. There are quite a few scenes that evoke genuine laughter. The one that stands out is one involving the visa interviews of the principal characters – brilliantly written and executed. Watch out for another scene involving an intoxicated Vicky Kaushal as Sukhi and an equally inebriated Shah Rukh Khan as Hardy where he delivers a monologue about NRIs taking their pind-di-kudiyaan as their brides – an absolute gem! The sequence right before the interval block will leave you in shock and wanting to look forward to the second half.”
