Shah Rukh Khan’s third film Dunki sailed smoothly on its second day of release. Despite mixed reviews, the film somehow managed to register a fair collection at the box office. As per reports, the half-century mark was crossed in two days in India. The film is expected to do well in overseas markets, especially in the UK where a part of the movie is based on. The worldwide collection is yet to be updated.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Dunki earned Rs 20 crore on Day 2 and had an overall 31.22% Hindi Occupancy. The film opened with a Rs 29.2 crore collection. The total domestic collection now stands at Rs 50 crore in India. As compared to Shah Rukh Khan’s previous releases Jawan and Pathaan, Dunki is doing a slow business. The reason may be that Dunki is not a pan-India release with various other versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam to target South India. The movie is available in Hindi only. Also, it is not an action genre unlike Jawan and Pathaan, which works better than other genres.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki is made with a budget of ₹120 crore, and was released on December 21 with mixed reviews. While a section of the audience were moved by its emotional impact, several others found the movie underwhelming. Besides Shah Rukh, the film also has Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover. Vicky Kaushal made a special appearance in the film.
The DesiMartini review of Dunki reads, “Rajkumar Hirani’s first collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan deserved a better written script and screenplay. Dunki is far from being a Hirani masterpiece. However, you can watch the film in theatres with your family for the brilliant performances, some genuine moments of laughter, and Vicky Kaushal’s solid special appearance.”
