Music composer Devi Sri Prasad, known for his cheerful personality and light-heartedness, caught everyone by surprise at Sunday's pre-release event of Pushpa 2: The Rule in Chennai. While addressing the audience, DSP opened up about his frustrations with the producers, Mythri Movie Makers. Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, visibly taken aback, maintained a composed smile as DSP shared his grievances in a candid, emotionally charged speech.
When a section of fans urged DSP to speak in Telugu, he obliged, saying, "You all are right, brothers. We need to ask and get what we want in life—whether it’s payment from producers or proper credits in movies."
The remark, though seemingly casual, carried a deeper significance. DSP hinted at a lack of acknowledgement for his contributions, particularly in Pushpa 2.
DSP highlighted the reluctance of the industry to credit his achievements, saying, "Many leading female stars performed special dance numbers for the first time to my compositions," referring specifically to Sreeleela’s performance in the song Kissik from Pushpa 2.
As the event hosts kept DSP on stage longer than expected, he addressed producer Ravi directly: "Sir, please don’t complain again that I spent too much time on stage. You always say I don’t deliver songs, background scores, or attend events on time. You have a lot of love for me, but even more complaints."
He also shared that he was blamed for being late to a Chennai event, clarifying that the delay wasn’t his fault.
DSP’s dissatisfaction may also stem from the producer's decision to bring in additional composers for Pushpa 2. Thaman S recently confirmed his involvement in the film’s background score, a move that could indicate tensions between DSP and the production team.
Despite these grievances, DSP’s contributions to Pushpa: The Rise were undeniable. His songs were instrumental in the film’s success, turning Allu Arjun into a national sensation. Pushpa 2 is set to release on December 5.
