Dhanush sues Nayanthara for using Naanum Rowdy Dhaan visuals in Netflix documentary

The most talked-about feud between Dhanush and Nayanthara seems to see no end, as the Tamil actor has now filed a civil suit against actress Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, for using footage from their Tamil film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in a Netflix docu-drama titled Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. Dhanush has sued the couple, their production house Rowdy Pictures Private Limited, and two other members for using content from the film, which was bankrolled by Dhanush's home banner, Wunderbar Films.

The Madras High Court heard the case on November 27, with Dhanush filing a copyright infringement suit against Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan. The case was presented before Justice Abdul Quddhose, who directed Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan, and others involved to submit their response to the allegations. Additionally, Dhanush has requested legal action against Netflix in connection with the matter.

Nayanthara’s open Letter

The legal battle between Tamil stars Nayanthara and Dhanush intensified when Nayanthara, ahead of the release of her documentary, issued an open letter accusing Dhanush of "stooping low."

In the letter, Nayanthara explained that she had previously requested Dhanush for permission to use footage, songs, and photographs from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her documentary. She claimed to have approached the film's producers, Wunderbar Films, multiple times for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC), but Dhanush refused her request. Nayanthara criticized Dhanush, accusing him of holding a personal grudge against her and described his refusal as an act of "vengeance."

Ironically, the duo was recently spotted at the wedding of producer Aakash Baskaran, where they were seen avoiding each other while being seated on opposite sides of the aisle.
