Kangana Ranaut led Dhaakad is facing some tough times post release at the box office. The film seemingly set a new low in collections at the ticket windows on Friday, after having reportedly sold only 20 tickets in its eighth day.
While 2022 is proving to be a tough year for Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut’s actioner seems to be the biggest flop from the Hindi film industry yet this year. Ironically the film released alongside Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which has been the year’s biggest box office opener yet which is led by Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani and refuses to slow down despite new releases.
While Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 chalked up its total to Rs. 98.57 crores on its second Friday, Dhaakad is has reportedly earned a meagre Rs. 4420 according to a Bollywood Hungama report. The collections of the Dhaakad weren’t to pleasing to begin with but the Friday collections seem to signed the death warrant for the movie.
Dhaakad which has allegedly been produced on a houmous budget of approximately Rs. 90 crores, has apparently also been struggling with selling its digital and satellite rights after its shocking failure at the ticket windows. The makers of the movie had apparently held on to the rights for post release in the hopes of securing a better deal but after its failure the project seems to be getting no lucrative deals to cushion the box office blow.
Dhaakad has so far collected close to Rs. 3 crores at the box office in over a week and remains one of the biggest duds delivered by Kangana Ranaut despite good reviews for her performance. It is unlikely that the film will get any more attention in cinema halls as Ayushmann Khurrana ’s Anek also joined the competition at the box office this week.
