Daavudi from Devara
Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor’s action-drama spectacle, Devara: Part 1, which released on September 27, 2024, has been performing exceptionally well at the box office. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film revolves around a father-son duo who become saviours of the coastal region in Andhra Pradesh. Even before its release, the film benefited from massive pre-sales, which contributed to its impressive opening. Here’s how much the film earned on day 1 of its release:
Jr NTR's Devara box office collection day 1
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected approximately Rs 75 crore in India, securing around Rs 140 crore worldwide. Language-wise, the majority of collections came from the Telugu states with around Rs 68 crore, while the Hindi version added Rs 7 crore, the Kannada version Rs 30 lakh, the Tamil version over Rs 80 lakh, and the Malayalam version Rs 30 lakh. The film also enjoyed an impressive 79.56% occupancy in Telugu cinemas on its opening day. Devara’s debut collections have overtaken Prabhas' blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, which opened with Rs 65.8 crore in the Telugu market. Devara: Part 1 garnered Rs 68.6 crore across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Globally, Devara brought in $2.8 million from its premiere shows, surpassing the combined earnings of Beetlejuice and Transformers One, which totaled $2.5 million. Early projections suggest that Devara could exceed ₹250 crore by the end of this weekend.
Devara breaks 'The Rajamouli Jinx'
This massive collection and reception are proof that Jr NTR has indeed broken the infamous ‘Rajamouli Jinx.’ For the unversed, the Rajamouli Jinx has affected actors like Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Prabhas, Ravi Teja, Nani, and Nithin, who have delivered a box office hit in SS Rajamouli's films but fail to repeat the success with their very next movie. Jr NTR’s previous film RRR, directed by Rajamouli, was a blockbuster, but fans were worried about Devara’s reception post-RRR for Jr NTR. It looks like Devara is on the safer side and will be another blockbuster hit in Jr NTR’s impressive filmography.
Devara is produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts and is currently running in theaters near you.
