When the teaser of Darlings was shared, it left us confused but intrigued. While Vijay Varma and Alia Bhatt ’s cute chemistry was fresh for our eyes, Shefali Shah and the latter’s on-screen camaraderie left us wanting more. We got an idea of how dark this humorous tale will be, but the main plot was still kept a mystery which got us hooked! Well, the much awaited trailer of Alia’s debut production is now out, and it is even better than what we were expecting.
The trailer begins with a scene featuring Vijay aka Hamza sharing that he loves his wife Badru, played by Alia, but is leaving her. This is followed by a series of events where Badru and her mother file a missing complaint. It is then revealed that Badru along with her mother portrayed by Shefali Shah, is out to take revenge from her abusive husband. In her career spanning over a decade, Alia has played many roles on-screen. But this avatar is one we have never seen her in before. She is innocent but badass when needed, with a thirst for teaching her husband a lesson. Shefali, on the other hand, is delightful! It’s like the two are bringing out the best in each other.
Vijay has also done an incredible job by the looks of this gripping trailer. He seems innocent and loving until we see glimpses of his violent actions. Well, the story follows the concept of domestic violence which is a serious matter, but with a dark comic twist where the woman takes matters into her own hand. Like Alia said, she does not want to kill her on-screen husband. She just wants to do to him, what he did to her.
Well, we can’t wait to see the story of Darlings unfold before our eyes on 5th August when the film arrives on Netflix ! This is a one of a kind comedy which will definitely surpass our expectations.
