Mohanlal in Barroz
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal on Tuesday unveiled the virtual 3D trailer of his upcoming movie, Barroz. The trailer offers a glimpse into the superior 3D experience that the film promises to deliver on the big screen, complete with 3D glasses. While many Indian movies are either converted into 3D format or shot using 3D cameras, none have released trailers in a virtual 3D format. Mohanlal seems to have taken this step to emphasize how crucial 3D technology is in shaping the audience's cinematic experience of this film.
The first impression of the Barroz 3D trailer is its technological superiority. Mohanlal appears to have gone all out to enhance the movie's technical brilliance, aiming to provide a truly unique experience for audiences. The visual style and texture feel distinct from conventional period dramas. There is an undeniable fairytale quality to the visuals, and this effect can only be fully appreciated when viewed in the format Mohanlal, the director, intended.

The trailer also reveals some intriguing clues about the movie’s titular character, Barroz, a ghost played by Mohanlal. Barroz seems to possess magical powers, attributed to his ghostly nature and is portrayed as a guardian protecting something valuable with the help of a young companion. A flashback sequence glimpsed in the trailer shows Barroz in his human form. Mohanlal had previously shared that the story is inspired by folklore about a ghost who guards a treasure meant for the true heir of Vasco da Gama.
"When the Portuguese were forced to leave India, they used black magic by killing a slave. That murdered person turns into a ghost and protects the treasure until the Portuguese or their rightful kin return. I play one such ghost," Mohanlal had explained earlier while discussing the movie's plot.
Barroz is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on December 25, promising a groundbreaking cinematic experience and setting a new benchmark for 3D filmmaking in Indian cinema.
