Bachchhan Paandey stands its ground on Day 1 at the box office, The Kashmir Files beats Dangal on Day 8 as it enters the 100 crores club

The Day 1 report card for Bachchhan Paandey is in and the film has managed to make a promising opening at the box office despite the competition it faces from The Kashmir Files . The Akshay Kumar - Kriti Sanon starrer film was supposed to be ‘the next big film’ from Bollywood before Vivek Agnihotri ’s film’s unprecedented victory at the ticket windows.
Bachchhan Paandey managed to secure and opening in the range of Rs. 13 to 13.50 crores which is still a big win for the Akshay Kumar starrer on Holi considering the audience inclination towards The Kashmir Files which is also dominating the majority of screens in the country. The opening weekend is crucial for the sustenance of the Bachchhan Paandey which opened to mixed reviews.
On Day 8, number for The Kashmir Files far outweighed Akshay’s film. On Holi, the exodus drama earned Rs. 19.15 crores which is the highest single day collections from the film. This also marks the entry of the film into the 100 crore club while also being an all time blockbuster. The total collections of The Kashmir Files now stand at Rs. 116.45 crore crores.
With this phenomenal second week opening, the movie now has joined the league of films like Baahubali 2 which earned Rs. 19.75 on Day 8 and has surpassed Aamir Khan ’s Dangal which earned Rs. 18.59 on the same day at the box office.

The Kashmir Files is based on 1990 exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits. The film stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi in key roles.
On the other hand, Akshay’s action comedy is a Hindi remake of the hit Tamil film Jigarthanda, has been directed by Farhad Samji and also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi , Prateik Babbar and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.
