Atrangi Re: Sara Ali Khan didn’t know what Dhanush’s character was saying when he confessed his love in Tamil

Ace filmmaker Aanand L. Rai’s Atrangi Re was undoubtedly one of the most awaited films of the year, not just because of the intriguing story line but also the interesting cast. The director brought Sara Ali Khan , Dhanush and Akshay Kumar together and gave us three quirky characters to gush over. While the film received mixed reviews by some fans, the performances won us over. The dialogues and many scenes also had a big hand in blowing us away! Especially when Dhanush aka Vishu confessed his love to Rinku, portrayed by Sara, in Tamil. Well, to get the feel right, Sara asked the team not to translate what Dhanush said and only found out what the dialogue was when she saw the scene with subtitles!

In a chat with Bollywood Hungama , Sara revealed, “The scene where Dhanush confesses his love to me in Tamil is one of my favourite scenes. That’s because I, as Sara or as Rinku, don’t really know what he’s saying. It’s only when I’ll play the film on Disney + Hotstar with subtitled that I’ll be like ‘Oh damn…so this is what he was saying’. I purposely didn’t want to know. Whenever we’d do readings, I had purposely told Aanand ji and Dhanush that I don’t want to know ki yeh kya bol raha hai. For that matter, even in the scene where Dhanush returns the ring to his to-be father in law, I honestly don’t know to date what they both talk about.”

Sara went on to explain that Aanand ji has tried to put forward a beautiful story that is based on love, and love has no language. She added that she does not understand Tamil and Hindi is not her co-star’s first language, but they still connected with the audience and each other because they were not relying on just language. Well, we have to agree that Sara and Dhanush really did make the audience fall in love with them, no matter which language they spoke in.
