Animal vs Sam Bahadur Box Office Day 8: Ranbir's film to hit Rs 600 crore, Vicky starrer crosses Rs 50 crore worldwide

Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal emerged to be the fourth-biggest Hindi movie of the year after Jawan, Pathan Gadar as it collected Rs 563 crore worldwide. It is soon going to enter the Rs 600 crore club in the coming days as it continues to make waves at the box office. In India, the film on Friday earned Rs 23.34 crore, taking the total domestic collection to Rs 361 crore. On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal’s period drama managed to cross Rs 50 crore at the global box office in a week.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Animal had an overall 29.41% Hindi Occupancy, 27.91% Telugu Occupancy and 24.48% Tamil Occupancy on Day 8. Despite criticism for toxic masculinity, misogynist and violent content, the footfalls are unstoppable in theatres for Animal. The film will soon become Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest-ever hit, overtaking Sanju’s collection.

On the other hand, Sam Bahadur witnessed a collection of Rs 3.28 crore on its eighth day of release. The film is running slow and steady with its total domestic collections standing at Rs 42.05 crore so far. The film’s worldwide gross earnings now stand at Rs 53.8 crore. As per early estimates, Sacnilk reported that the second Saturday collection turned out to be Rs 1.12 crore.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles. The film focuses on the troubled relationship between a father and a son. Backed by T-series, Cine1 Studios, and Bhadrakali Pictures, the film was released on December 1 and opened to mixed reactions from the audience and critics. The film is 3 hours 21 minutes long and has been given an A certificate by CBFC because of sexual and violent content.

On the other hand, Sam Bahadur, based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, is directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film also has Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The DesiMartini review of Sam Bahadur reads, “The intensity and fire which Vicky Kaushal masterfully exudes makes you wonder that he was truly destined for this revered role. The Meghna Gulzar directorial's real strength lies in the power of the performances of the lead star cast.”
