Less than a week before the release of Animal, the major plot sequences of father-son drama featuring Ranbir Kapoor, have been revealed. The UK censor board, who gave the film 18+ rating and called it ‘strong bloody violence’, dropped spoilers while indicating that the film is also high on domestic and sexual abuse content. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film ‘charts a man's relentless pursuit of twisted revenge at all costs’, also starring Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
Acording to BBFC official site, there are several scenes of domestic abuse in which men strike, humiliate, coerce and manipulate women and children. There is also a scene where a man points a gun at a pregnant woman. Reportedly, the film uses strong language, moderate sex scenes with partial buttock and breast nudity and moderate verbal references to sex in certain sequences. There is a scene where a bloodied murderer lies on top of his new wife in front of wedding guests. Also, a scene in which a man has sex with a woman as a ruse to make her fall in love with him, only to humiliate her later. Even fight scenes are gory including the sight of piles of bloody corpses.
Animal features Ranbir in a never-seen-before avatar and director said it was a pleasure to watch Kapoor transform into the total antithesis of himself in the role of Arjun Singh. Further praising the actor, he told PTI, “Ranbir is a great actor, he is in a different league altogether. He is very original. I feel he is a mix of so many actors, it is wrong to compare to other actors, (But) I feel he is a mix of Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Kamal Haasan. This man (Ranbir) has no limitation.” Well, the director is elated by the reception of the movie’s trailer and is eager to see how the public will react to his film. The film has received A certificate from CBFC and its runtime is 3 hours 21 minutes.
Backed by T-series, Cine1 Studios and Bhadrakali Pictures, Animal will release theatrically on December 1 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.-
