The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Tamil war biopic Amaran and Dulquer Salmaan’s scam drama Lucky Baskhar have undoubtedly turned out to be two of the most successful Diwali releases this year. Despite heavy competition from Hindi releases, these two South Indian films are enjoying a great run and growing stronger at the box office. They have been the audiences’ first choice too.
As both films near the completion of their first successful week in theaters, here’s how they have performed on a cross-regional level:

According to industry trackers, Sivakarthikeyan’s war biopic on the late Major Mukund Varadarajan opened to impressive numbers, entering the Rs 100-crore club in just three days. In the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Amaran amassed an impressive collection of Rs 18.32 crore in six days, bringing its total collections to Rs 155 crore. Telugu audiences have been raving about the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, which has already outperformed Vijay's The GOAT’s lifetime Telugu collections. For context, The GOAT earned a total of Rs 18 crore in Telugu regions, while Amaran is already approaching Rs 19 crore in just six days.
On the other hand, Dulquer's Lucky Baskhar also enjoyed an impressive worldwide opening and has been witnessing a steady theatrical run in Tamil Nadu. The Telugu film has grossed around Rs 6 crore in Tamil Nadu in six days, bringing its total worldwide collections close to Rs 70 crore. The film is expected to surpass the Rs 100 crore club by the end of its second week in theaters. Interestingly, theaters have increased shows following the strong reception for the Telugu film in Tamil Nadu.
