Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming biopic Amaran is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated Diwali releases from South India. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film stars Sai Pallavi and Sivakarthikeyan in their first collaboration, with the project being backed by Kamal Haasan's home banner, Raaj Kamal International Films.
Amaran trailer release date update
Ahead of the film's exciting theatrical debut, the makers have announced that the trailer will be released tomorrow, October 23, 2024, at 6 PM. Sharing the announcement, they wrote, "A Hero's Legacy comes to Life! #Amaran trailer marches tomorrow at 6 PM."

Based on the life of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan, the film is inspired by the non-fiction book India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes. Mukund, an Ashok Chakra awardee, was martyred during the Qazipathri Operation in Shopian in 2014. Sai Pallavi plays the role of Mukund's wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese, in the film.

Amaran is scheduled for release on October 31, 2024, and will clash with multiple films, including Lucky Baskhar, Brother, Mechanic Rocky, Bagheera, and Bloody Beggar, at the box office this Diwali season.
Sivakarthikeyan on overcoming the challenge of playing Major Mukund
Leading man Sivakarthikeyan had earlier noted that he initially found the role challenging. However, after spending three days with army personnel in Kashmir and observing their lives, he gained a deep appreciation for their struggles, which he found far greater than the challenges he faced in portraying the character. He also revealed that he had lost sleep when he first heard the story and was keen to take on the project.

Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film also stars Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Lallu, Shreekumar, Shyam Mohan, Ajaey Naga Raaman, Mir Salman, and Gaurav Venkatesh in supporting roles. Netflix has acquired the digital rights to the film.
