Ajith Kumar in Good Bad Ugly
Fans of Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar have been eagerly awaiting the release of his upcoming film Good Bad Ugly, expected to hit theatres during the Pongal festival in January 2025. However, recent comments from producer Naveen Yerneni at the pre-release event of Pushpa 2: The Rule in Chennai have cast doubts on the film meeting its anticipated release date.
While sharing updates about the movie, Naveen expressed satisfaction with its progress but stopped short of confirming the Pongal release. "We are fast approaching completion. We have another seven days of shoot left. We are going to announce the date soon. We had announced a Pongal release earlier, but...the movie is coming out very well. I am confident that our debut Tamil film will be a huge blockbuster," he said.

Adding to the uncertainty, recent reports suggest that composer GV Prakash Kumar may step in to handle the film’s background score, even though Devi Sri Prasad was previously announced as the official composer. This mirrors the producers’ approach with Pushpa 2, where they roped in Thaman S to assist DSP with the score.
With Good Bad Ugly reportedly still in post-production, the possibility of meeting the Pongal 2025 release window appears increasingly slim. Fans are also still waiting for updates on Vidaamuyarchi, another Ajith Kumar project that has seen delays and lacks a confirmed release date.
Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, Good Bad Ugly went into production earlier this year and was initially slated to release ahead of Vidaamuyarchi. While fans hold onto hope for timely updates, the release schedules for both films remain uncertain, leaving audiences in suspense about Ajith’s next big-screen appearance.
Good Bad Ugly also stars Trisha Krishnan, Prabhu, Prasanna, Arjun Das, Sunil, Rahul Dev and Yogi Babu.
