Not many are aware of the fact that King Khan got his first pay cheque of Rs 50 at Udhas’ concert.
Talking about the trivia, Shah Rukh earned his first salary of Rs 50 through his work as an usher at Pankaj Udhas’ concert. According to a news report in Statesman, the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenga actor had said earning Rs 50 in Udhas’ concert had opened a world full of possibilities for him. SRK had spent that money by traveling to Agra and especially marveling at the beauty of the Taj Mahal. Well, from being an usher in the ‘Rishta Tera Mera’ singer’s concert to achieving global superstardom now, the actor has certainly come a long way.

Pankaj Udhas’ daughter Nayaab Udhas shared a statement on the sad passing away of her father. The statement said, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness." Sonu Nigam was one of the first people from the Indian music industry to mourn the loss of the ‘Na Kajare Ki Dhar’ singer. He wrote, “One of the most important part of my childhood, is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart cries knowing that you are no more. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti.”

Udhas was 73 years of age and was battling many health diseases. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to his social media handle to remember the singer. His post said, “We mourn the loss of Pankaj Udhas Ji, whose singing conveyed a range of emotions and whose Ghazals spoke directly to the soul. He was a beacon of Indian music, whose melodies transcended generations. I recall my various interactions with him over the years. His departure leaves a void in the music world that can never be filled. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
