Kannada actor and filmmaker Upendra expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside Superstar Rajinikanth in the upcoming film Coolie. Known for his versatility as both an actor and director, Upendra credited his fans and well-wishers for enabling this milestone in his career.
During an event in Bengaluru, Upendra shared his admiration for Rajinikanth, describing him as his "Dronacharya." "His every word and gesture makes a deep impression on me. He is my Dronacharya," Upendra revealed, adding, "I never miss anything he says. Be it the style in which he says it or the substance of what he says, he's a Yogi."

The two actors reunited after a long gap on the sets of Coolie, and Upendra cherished their one-hour meeting. He expressed his excitement about sharing screen space with Rajinikanth in Coolie, stating, "One needs to be really blessed to have this opportunity."

Upendra is the latest addition to the star-studded cast of Coolie, which also features stars like Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. The film is currently being shot in Hyderabad, with production in full swing.
While Upendra is celebrated for his directorial prowess, he admitted feeling nervous about the prospect of directing Rajinikanth in the future. "I am even afraid to think about it," he said, before adding with a smile, "But, if it happens, let's see."
Meanwhile, Upendra is eagerly awaiting the release of his highly anticipated film UI. The film is expected to be a genre-bending experience, combining sci-fi and post-apocalyptic themes, while carrying Upendra’s signature style of philosophical commentary and satire. UI is slated for release in October.
