Mouni Roy has quickly risen to become a popular actress. After kickstarting her acting career on television, she ventured into Bollywood and has been part of movies such as Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva, Gold, and Made in China. In a recent interview, Mouni spoke about her bond with actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani. She fondly remembered that Smriti was the first person on the set of the hit series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi to buy her ice cream. She also lent her a few books.

Mouni Roy on her bond with Smriti Irani 

During a conversation with Mashable India, Mouni was asked about her relationship with Smriti, as both of them worked on Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Mouni recalled her memories from the sets of the hit, long-running series and revealed that she was completely clueless when she started shooting for the show because she takes her time to warm up to people. Admitting that she suffers from social anxiety, Mouni said that she used to hide behind books on the sets of the show, but Smriti got her ice cream in an effort to warm her up.

Mouni also revealed that Smriti once asked her about the book that she was reading and then went on to lend her a few books of her own. She said that it is an ongoing joke between them that Mouni has not yet returned Smriti’s two books.

Speaking further about the politician, Mouni said, “I really love her, respect her, adore her and I really wish I can imbibe some of her qualities, like being resilient and strong.” Mouni added that she has immense love and respect for Smriti for everything that she is doing for the country. 

Mouni Roy made her acting debut with Ekta Kapoor’s hit, long-running daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, in which she played the role of Krishna. Smriti played Tulsi, the protagonist of the show.
