'That's why he picked her up..' : NMACC event choreographer Shiamak Davar reveals why Varun Dhawan lifted and kissed Gigi Hadid

The launch of the NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre) is still being hailed as the Indian Met Gala with so many stars under one roof. The event also had Hollywood royalties Tom Holland, Gigi Hadid , and Zendaya attend the same. However, actor Varun Dhawan landed himself in a controversy after he lifted Gigi on the stage in the middle of his performance and also kissed her on the cheeks. Now, ace choreographer Shiamak Davar who had choreographed the entire act of the event has also broken his silence on the fiasco.

The choreographer in conversation with Hindustan Times has come out in defense of Varun Dhawan and revealed that the entire act was preplanned and in fact, it was Gigi Hadid’s idea for her being lifted by the Badlapur actor. Shiamak Davar said, “Varun told me that Gigi said to him, ‘When you are going to be on stage, bring me up’, to which he said, ‘Okay’. That’s why he picked her up. It was her idea and everything was pre-planned.” He also added that everyone in the audience love the duo’s performance. Shiamak also recalled that Mukesh Ambani got emotional seeing the performances at the occasion. He went on to say, “I couldn’t believe how much they (the audience present at the do) loved it. Mukesh (Ambani; business magnate-host) had tears in his eyes and [his wife] Nita (Ambani; philanthropist and host) was wiping them.”

Meanwhile, talking about Varun Dhawan, the actor started to be trolled by many netizens for the act. However, he was quick to defend himself and also slammed a Twitter user criticizing him. The Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania actor had earlier quoted a tweet bashing him for lifting Gigi Hadid and said, “I guess today you woke up and decided to be woke. So lemme burst ur bubble and tell u it was planned for her to be on stage so find a new Twitter cause to vent about rather than going out and doing something about things. Good morning.”

All the accusations against Varun Dhawan were further rubbished after Gigi Hadid herself praised the actor on her Instagram story. The supermodel has also started following the actor on Instagram. Meanwhile, on the work front, Varun will be seen in the movie Bawaal opposite Janhvi Kapoor.
