The Greatest of All Time
Thalapathy Vijay's movies continue to set new benchmarks when it comes to pushing the limits of revenue from the sale of streaming rights. His upcoming movie, The Greatest of All Time, seems to have fetched a record sum for its producers after Netflix acquired its streaming rights.
According to reports, Netflix has bought the post-theatrical streaming rights of The Greatest of All Time for a whopping Rs 110 crore. This is, however, Rs 15 crore less than what the streaming giant reportedly paid for Vijay's previous film, Leo.

News about the film's streaming revenue exceeding Rs 100 crore surfaced days after producer Ishari K. Ganesh claimed that streaming platforms are no longer ready to pay exorbitant prices to partner with even star-driven movies. Without taking names, Ishari remarked in a recent interview, "A big hero's last film fetched over Rs 125 crore and his next film didn't exceed the range of Rs 90 crore."
Last movie of his went for 125 C in OTT but current movie didn’t go more than 90C @actorvijay ?

However, the industry was quick to connect the dots, concluding that Ishari was referring to Leo. Now, we have counterclaims suggesting that Vijay's popularity remains unfazed amid changing market trends, fetching record revenue from all fronts. "Nowadays, many Tamil films are not being procured by digital streaming platforms for more than 100 crore, especially in 2024! #GOAT team has pulled off the impossible by inking the deal with Netflix for 110 crore!" tweeted Rajasekar, a film industry observer.
