Swatantrya Veer Savarkar: Randeep Hooda, Ankita Lokhande's gets submitted to Oscars 2025; netizens call it 'deserving'

Randeep Hooda, who has proved his mettle as an actor with films like Sarbjit, Highway, Extraction, and Laal Rang among others, left everyone impressed with his work in SwatantryaVeer Savarkar. Randeep starred, wrote, directed, and produced the film based on the life of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. After receiving critical acclaim, the makers of the film are now beaming with joy as Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has been submitted for Oscars 2025. The news came in hours after Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies became India's official entry to the Oscars.

Taking to Instagram, the makers of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar announced that the film has been submitted for the Oscars. While sharing the poster image and picture of the producers of the film, they wrote, “Honored and humbled! Our film SwatantryaVeer Savarkar has officially been submitted for the Oscars. Thank You FILM FEDERATION OF INDIA for this remarkable appreciation. This journey has been incredible, and we are immensely grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way.”

Actress Gauahar Khan reacted to the post with clapping hands emoji. Netizens were seen hailing the good news. One user commented, "That’s deserving entry". Another user wrote, "Finally getting it's due". One of the comments also read, "Yay... This film totally deserves an Oscar".

Earlier, Randeep had shared clips from the film on his social media and dedicated the country’s freedom to those fighters who sacrificed and never gave up. He captioned the post, “Lest we forget ..The sacrifices of our heroes who FOUGHT for our freedom. The Revolutionaries who were martyred, imprisoned under inhumane conditions, denied rights and basic needs and despite all NEVER GAVE UP! The Freedom we enjoy today, are thanks to those who gave up theirs 🇮🇳.”

In an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, the actor revealed that the film was shot over multiple years because it did not have anybody’s support, and the actor had to sell off his properties to complete it.

Randeep marked his directorial debut with Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. Besides direction, the actor starred and produced the film with his hard-earned money. Apart from Randeep, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar also stars actress Ankita Lokhande, Mrinal Dutt, and Amit Sial. After releasing in theatres on March 22, 2024, in Hindi and English, the film premiered on Zee5.
