Sushmita Sen and Lalit Modi ’s relationship becoming official yesterday (July 14) was clearly one of the surprising news that took social media by storm. Modi shared many pictures with the actress and confirmed their relationship but stressed that they aren’t married yet. Now the latest development is that the couple started their whirlwind romance after Sushmita had broken up with model Rohman Shawl .

Yes, you heard that right! According to a news report by Etimes, Sushmita Sen and Lalit Modi weren’t in a relationship until the actress split from Rohman Shawl. There were some flirtatious tweets from back in 2013 between Sushmita and Lalit which went viral on social media recently and sparked rumors that the two were a couple for a long time. But that is not the case, according to the report, the couple only started a relationship after Sushmita’s breakup with Shawl although reportedly there was a mutual attraction between the two towards each other.

Not only this but Lalit Modi also ‘liked’ Sushmita Sen’s breakup post with Rohman Shawl. Announcing their split in December last year, Sushmita wrote, “We began as friends, we remain friends!! The relationship was long over...the love remains.” Take a look at Modi’s profile being reflected in the likes section of the post.

Apart from this, another news report from the same publication stated that Sushmita Sen knew Lalit Modi from before he started IPL. Not only this but the Aarya actress also knew Lalit’s late wife Minal Modi and often watched the IPL matches with the former couple. A source close to the development revealed to the publication, “Why are people so shocked? Probably because this is one of the few times that the couple themselves have come out in the open before the media could even get a whiff of it. Aren't the two from the glitz-n-glamour world? Aren't both ardent lovers of cricket? Don't they have some common friends? Obviously, both are now single and found each other to be charming personality."

For the unversed, Lalit Modi’s wife Minal passed away in the year 2018. She was battling cancer for a long time reportedly. They are parents to two kids- Aaliya and Ruchir.
