Suniel Shetty to play 14th-century ruler in Kanu Chauhan’s Kesari Veer; learns horse riding, archery and more

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty is all set to feature in upcoming action-adventure film titled Kesari Veer, based on the life of a Gujarati warrior, who fought to save the Somnath Temple from intruders in the 14th century. The film, also starring Sooraj Pancholi, and Vivek Oberoi, is directed by Kanu Chauhan. Suniel Shetty is learning horse riding and more as he prepares for the role.

Suniel Shetty in Kesari Veer

According to a report by Mid-Day, Suniel Shetty is all set to portray the role of a 14th-century ruler in Kesari Veer. The actor has already begun preparing for the role and is learning horse-riding and weaponry, belonging to that era. The report revealed that Suniel will play the role of Raja Vegdaji Bhil, the ruler of Dron. The report revealed, "Suniel had to brush up on his horse-riding skills and learned weaponry, like self-made spears, slings, axes, bows and arrows, knives, and swords, belonging to that time. He also learned archery, as the Bhils were skilled in that, as well as guerilla warfare.”

Speaking about his ‘unique look’ in the film, the report revealed that the actor will sport a pagdi, angarkha, and dhoti, along with a moustache.

While the action sequences of the film are designed by South action director Kevin Kumar, the costumes have been created by Chandrakant Sonawane.

Speaking about the film, director Kanu told Mid-Day, "We have spent more than Rs 60 crore on the movie and shot it over a continuous 120-day schedule from November 23 in Mumbai and Gujarat." He further said that the post-production work of the film is currently under way, and that the team plans to release the motion poster by this month.

Sooraj Pancholi in Kesari Veer

According to the report, Sooraj Pancholi will be playing the role of Veer Hamirji Gohil, who protected the temple against the invasion of Zafar Khan, general of Delhi Sultanate ruler, Alauddin Khilji.
