Silambarasan TR, the Kollywood powerhouse of talent, has been busy with many promising projects. His upcoming period film, tentatively titled STR48, is one of the most anticipated films of the actor’s career. Although the first look poster from the film was released by the makers, the shooting is yet to begin.
STR48's shoot to begin on June 8
According to the latest reports, the shooting for the upcoming period action film will commence on June 8. Although an official announcement is awaited, reports claim that the makers are planning to schedule a puja ceremony and commence shooting on June 8. Currently, Simbu is busy shooting for Thug Life, which also stars Kamal Haasan and is directed by Mani Ratnam.

More about Silambarasan’s magnum opus, STR48
Directed by Desingh Periyasamy, who had earlier made Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, STR48 is backed by Kamal Haasan’s home banner, Raaj Kamal Films International. Earlier, the makers had released the first look poster when the project was announced, which featured Simbu in dual roles, with the two side-profile faces of Silambarasan looking at each other with rage. Reports suggest that the actor will have two avatars in the movie and play both the protagonist and villain. The film will centre around a clash between two brothers and Kamal Haasan is expected to be making a cameo appearance.

However, other reports suggest that Silambarasan will also appear as transgender in the film. This ‘thirunangai’ character will have less screen time in the first part of STR 48, which is being planned as a franchise, and is expected to have more screen space in Part 2.
Mrunal Thakur is said to make her Tamil debut in STR48. Although fans are excited to see the onscreen chemistry between Mrunal and Simbu, the makers have kept the information surrounding the female lead under wraps.
