SS Rajamouli’s RRR actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR make a surprise appearance at Oscars 2024; watch

Last year, SS Rajamouli’s masterpiece RRR made history when its beloved track Naatu Naatu became the first song from an Indian film to win the Oscars for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards. The filmmaker along with his lead stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR made a stylish appearance at the grand event to witness the same, making their fans all around the country proud. It was a major milestone achieved by the film. Well, even though RRR was not nominated this year, Rajamouli’s Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju did make a surprise cameo at the 96th Academy Awards.

No, the superstars were not physically in Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles for the event. But scenes from their film were played on the big screen behind the stage when actors Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt paid a special tribute to stunt coordinators and stunt performers in every corner of the world. In one scene, Raju was on Bheem’s back when they escaped from the prison. Meanwhile in another scene the two fought Britishers, where Ram was dressed as Lord Rama in saffron. These were iconic moments in RRR, which are still fresh in our minds.

Sharing the video of Ryan and Emily’s tribute on their official social media handle, the team of RRR shared, “And again, a sweet surprise for us… 🔥🌊 Glad that @TheAcademy included #RRRMovie action sequences as part of their tribute to the world’s greatest stunt sequences in cinema.” In the clip, Ryan and Emily call stunt performers the ‘unsung heroes’ who risk their lives for cinema. It truly is an honour. In the comment section of RRR team’s post, one ecstatic fan wrote: “Definitely didn’t go unnoticed! 💙❤️”, whereas another netizen shared, “2 minutes silence for those who panned Rise Roar Revolt for its action sequences.”

RRR has now made India proud not once but twice at the Academy Awards.
