Sidharth Malhotra and Sara Ali Khan to star in Panchayat-fame director Deepak Mishra’s next?

It is good news for the fans of Sidharth Malhotra and Sara Alia Khan as the Bollywood stars are all set to mark their first on-screen appearance in an upcoming project. The latest reports reveal that Sidharth and Sara will feature in Panchayat-fame director Deepak Mishra’s next project. The film will be set against a rural background and will begin production in 2025.

Sidharth Malhotra and Sara Ali Khan’s upcoming film

According to a report by India Today, Sidharth Malhotra and Sara Ali Khan will be seen together in an untitled project, which will be helmed by Deepak Mishra, who is known for directing the popular series Panchayat.

Though not much has been revealed about the film’s plotline, it is said to feature a rural folk story. The film is reported to begin production in 2025.

Revealing more about the film, a report by Pinkvilla stated, “It’s a high-on drama and emotion film, set against the backdrop of a folklore deep-rooted in Hindu Mythology. The makers have the vision to create a unique cinematic experience like Kantara with the feature film. While Sid is expected to hear the final narration in November, the makers are aiming to take the film on floors in 2nd half of 2025. He will sign the dotted lines once the final narration takes place."

For the unversed, Panchayat is a popular comedy-drama web series, which stars Jitendra Kumar and Neena Gupta, among others, and is available on Amazon Prime Video. The series too is set against a rural background and revolves around the life of Abhishek who starts working in a village named Phulera.

Sidharth and Sara’s acting projects

On the work front, Sara has Anurag Basu’s Metro... In Dino in the pipeline and is currently shooting with Ayushmann Khurrana in Manali for an untitled film. The actress was last seen in Ae Watan Mere Watan.

Sidharth, on the other hand, has not revealed his upcoming projects yet. The actor was last seen in the action-thriller film Yodha and is reportedly in talks to feature in Race 4, alongside Saif Ali Khan.

A report by Pinkvilla revealed that producer Ramesh Taurani has a team of in-house writers working on the basic plot of Race 4. "Conversations with Sidharth Malhotra have already begun to bring him on board alongside Saif Ali Khan. Sidharth is a fan of the Race franchise and is keen to take on this role,” the report stated.
