Venturing Into the Abyss: LaBeouf's Dark Turn in Mace
"Mace" promises to deliver an adrenaline-fueled tale of two diametrically opposed law enforcement officers. LaBeouf's character, Mace, is a seasoned, albeit corrupt cop, while Trevor Jackson's Virgil Woods represents the young, idealistic rookie striving for systemic change. Inspired by recent instances of racial injustice, the narrative pits Woods against the morally bankrupt Mace, as the latter triggers a gang war to obfuscate his misdeeds. In Amiel's intense crime saga, "everyone around Mace is in danger as Mace plays his game and tries to conceal his tracks, no matter the cost."
"Mace" is scheduled to commence filming in New Jersey later this year, under the Myriad Pictures and Meyers Media Group production banners. Producers Lawrence Steven Meyers, John Evangelides, Randy Dannenberg, and Robert Maclean are optimistic about the project, which is poised to bring a refreshing take on contemporary police precincts.
On the Horizon: LaBeouf's Upcoming Projects and Praise for the Mace Ensemble
As for LaBeouf, this isn't his only exciting endeavor. Audiences will soon witness his compelling performances in Francis Ford Coppola's highly anticipated "Megalopolis" and David Mamet’s "Assassination". The actor recently completed production on Abel Ferarra’s "Padre Pio", depicting the life of the saint during his time as a monk in Italy.
Kirk D’Amico of Myriad Pictures couldn’t hide his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted that Shia LaBeouf will head up the cast for this film which explores the underbelly of a police precinct in contemporary New Jersey. We think that with Jon Amiel at the helm and Shia in the title role that the result will be extraordinary and exciting.”
Echoing his sentiments, producer Meyers added, “With the amazing screenplay, Jon at the helm, and Shia joining Trevor as the lead actors, it is an irresistible creative coup for us."
