They always say, ‘Shah Rukh Khan is a king Khan for a reason’. This cannot be truer than in the case of the box office collections of his films. Almost every film of his, has managed to set and create new records.
Besides being a numero uno in Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan has now become India's biggest celebrity taxpayer, with an astounding Rs 92 crore, which he has paid in taxes for the 2023-24 financial year! Only last year, this King Khan had a super impressive box office performance. Three of his films were declared as bonafide blockbusters.
Speaking about his films’ performance last year, his film Pathaan (which starred Deepika Padukone as the leading lady), went onto earn more than a whopping Rs 1000 crore globally! This was immediately followed by yet another film, which went on to create yet another box office milestone. The film was Jawan, which went on to earn more than a staggering Rs. 1150 crore at the box office!
Well… Shah Rukh Khan, being the King Khan (of the box office that he is), then, made no mistake in impressing not just the audiences, but also the box office with his next film Dunki. Even though the film Dunki (which starred Taapsee Pannu as the leading lady), did not repeat as much success as his earlier two films (Jawan and Pathaan), still… The film went on to make an impressive Rs 400 crore plus at the box office.
With a hattrick of successful films which had set the box office on fire, one can understand why Shah Rukh Khan has now topped the list as India's biggest celebrity taxpayer! Close on the heels of Shah Rukh Khan happens to be the southern superstar Tamil actor Vijay aka Thalapathy. This superstar actor, who was in the second position after Shah Rukh Khan, has now reportedly paid Rs 80 crore in taxes for the same financial year (2023-24).
The other actors who have also got featured on the list include the likes of Salman Khan (third place), superstar Amitabh Bachchan and the ace cricketer Virat Kohli in the fourth and fifth place respectively.
