While Yash Raj Films’ production venture Pathaan performed extraordinary, their second venture Tiger 3 didn’t pull up the same craziness at the box office in 2023. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta feels Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is the reason. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), the filmmaker explained how Atlee’s directorial took the country by storm and led the charts leaving Tiger 3 behind.
The Kaante director suggested things would have been different for Salman Khan’s film if it came before Jawan. “I strongly feel that had TIGER 3 come before JAWAN things would have been different. It’s just that Atlee set a whole new benchmark with every scene he shot,” he wrote. Both Jawan and Tiger 3 received love from the audiences, however, Jawan surpassed the Rs 1000 crore business upon release on September 7, 2023. On the other hand, Tiger 3 managed to gross Rs 450 crore after its theatrical release on November 12, 2023.

Soon after Gupta’s tweet, the netizens rushed to the comment section and left their opinions. “The heavy on slo- mos and repetitive action setpieces actually bored me while watching #Jawan. Watched #Tiger3 today, and really enjoyed it. Atlee is overhyped,” said a user. “Tiger 3 script was weak, nothing to do with Jawan. Even my Pakistani colleagues have disliked the movie. It was utter nonsensical film,” said the second user. “Yeah Pathaan was hit because of Salman cameo and Tiger 3 was average because Jawan released first,” commented another user.
