Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has been over the moon ever since she won the Lok Sabha seat from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. Reacting to a video posted by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Kangana said that "PM Modi wants women to rise."

PM Meloni took to Twitter to share a video with PM Modi and captioned it, “Hi friends, from #Melodi.” Kangana expressed her delight by resharing the video on her Instagram stories and wrote, “One of the most endearing qualities of Modi ji is that he makes women feel that he is rooting for them and wants them to rise. No wonder PM Meloni thinks that Modi ji is team Meloni."

PM Modi visited Italy on Friday for a day-long visit where he was representing India as an outreach nation on the sidelines of the G7 summit. PM Modi was greeted by PM Meloni upon arrival at the event. Thanking Meloni for inviting him to attend the 2024 G7 Summit, PM Modi wrote, “Thanked her for inviting India to be a part of the G7 Summit and for the wonderful arrangements.”
Kangana’s political career
On June 4, Kangana won the Mandi Lok Sabha seat as a BJP candidate by defeating Congress’ Vikramaditya Singh.
Announcing her political debut, Kangana took to her social media to write, “My beloved Bharat and Bhartiya Janta’s own party, Bharatiya Janta party (BJP) has always had my unconditional support, today the national leadership of BJP has announced me as their Lok Sabha candidate from my birthplace Himachal Pradesh, Mandi (constituency). I abide by the high command’s decision on contesting the Lok Sabha polls. I feel honoured and elated to officially join the party. I look forward to being a worthy karyakarta and a reliable public servant. Thanks.”
Speaking to Aaj Tak in an interview, Kangana said that if she wins the Mandi Lok Sabha seat, she will quit her acting career after fulfilling her commitments.
About her acting career, Kangana will be seen next in Emergency, in which she plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Backed by Manikarnika Films, Emergency also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, the late Satish Kaushik, and Mahima Chaudhry, among others. The film has suffered multiple delays due to Kangana’s political career and is expected to hit theatres later this year.
