Ranbir Kapoor is all set to surprise the audience with his never-before-seen avatar in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. In the recently released trailer, he plays an aggressive and intense son, who is out to seek revenge after his father is attacked. In the latest media interaction, the actor admitted that the script scared him as he rushed to the bathroom after reading it. It took some time for him to accept himself playing this complex role.
Recalling his first reaction after Vanga narrated the script, Kapoor said, “I think when Sandeep sir came to narrate the story to me, the title was very different. It was a different title but when he made me hear the story, I remember I said, ‘Sir, one minute.’ I went to the bathroom and didn’t come out for five minutes,” he told Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna on his show, Unstoppable with NBK.

Further, Kapoor added that he got scared wondering if he could pull the role off. “I was so scared to play this part because I felt it was so different from all the characters I have done and I am also grateful that he was giving me an opportunity to play a part like this. Not many directors see me in roles like this. And outside, he was smoking cigarettes because he was thinking (he was panicking),” he said.

Earlier, Ranbir admitted that his character does have some similarities with Vanga’s previous protagonists (Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy). “Yes, my character in “Animal” does possess some of the traits typically associated with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s protagonists. He is indeed tough and uncompromising in certain aspects. However, what sets him apart is the layers of complexity and depth that have been woven into his character,” he told Variety.
Meanwhile, Animal also stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bobby Deol. Backed by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Murad Khetani and Krishan Kumar, the film is set to arrive in theatres on December 1, 2023.
