Updated : March 03, 2023 04:58 PM ISTThe first teaser of the Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Bheed is out now. The movie has been helmed by Anubhav Sinha.
The makers of the Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Bheed have released their first teaser. The movie is based on the tumultuous plight of the migrants and laborers who had to migrate to their hometowns during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. The film has been directed by Anubhav Sinha .
Talking about the same, the teaser starts with a voiceover by presumably Manoj Bajpayee wherein he could be seen comparing the events of the partition in the year 1947 to the incidents that happened in 2020 after the advent of COVID-19 at its peak. The shots that are shown in the teaser include an overly crowded bus with innumerable migrants wanting to return to their hometowns. We see helpless and downtrodden citizens of the country walking barefoot and sitting helter-skelter as they are left uncertain about the future. Take a look at the video.
The caption of the teaser read, “Hum kahaani bata rahe hai uss waqt ki jab batwara desh mein nahi, samaaj mein hua tha. #Bheed, a story of the darkest times, in black and white. Releasing in cinemas on 24th March 2023.” By the looks of it, the movie might showcase the plight of a particular section of society who were left divided and helpless due to the nation being closed down with the onset of the pandemic. By the first looks of both Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar that were released recently, we can see that the duo play the roles of a cop and doctor respectively. The movie also will be showcased in shades of black and white. This will be their second collaboration after the critically acclaimed movie Badhaai Do.
However, not everyone was impressed with the first look of the movie. One of the netizens stated, “ek aur propaganda ke sath” while another user said, “How someone can compares Covid Lockdown in India with Partition of India in 1947 .. Absolutely RIDICULOUS.. Wondering why our prominent production house & actors becomes part of Jihaadi Anubhav Sinha's personal propaganda which brings hate for the industry.” Another netizen added, “actor ho sirf acting kro kahani mt bataoo.”
Bheed’s main tagline says, “Our darkest times in Black and White.” The movie has been extensively shot in Lucknow. It has been produced by Anbhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar.
