Updated : June 14, 2022 04:01 PM ISTWith recent rumblings of the Obi-Wan Kenobi show getting a second season, executive producer Joby Harold addresses the rumors.
The series has already broken records on Dinsey+, becoming the most viewed show on the platform over 11 million. The show ten years after the events of Revenge of The Sith and leads into the events of the original trilogy.
Ewan Mcgroer and Hayden Christison both reprise their roles as Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker.
While it was announced as a limited series with six episodes, with the positive responses to the first four episodes, it is no wonder that Disney would want to make another season.
The studio has done something similar with the recent Moonkinght series which was also announced as a limited series but got a second season.
In a recent interview with Deadline writer/executive producer, Joby Harold was asked about the recent rumors about the show getting a new season, but like a pro, he dodged the question
"I can’t really speak to that, so unfortunately I won’t beyond saying it’s been a real thrill to work with this character, this universe, for this experience," he added "It has been the opportunity of a lifetime, and I’ve cherished it."
So we don't have an official announcement about a second season, but this may be because they want to wait till the series airs its sixth and final episode on June 22nd.
Harold was also asked about the criticism from fans about the series messing up the accepted Star Wars Lore, in response he asked fans to be patient.
"There is a plan for all of that," he confirmed. "It’s such a big creative team making these shows that everyone’s very, very aware of canon and the fan base and the importance of making sure everything lines up, so it’s definitely something that was on the front of our minds always."
He was also asked if he could reveal anything about the remaining two episodes to which he gave a very clever response
"I think you can expect the fifth one to be called 'Episode 5' and the sixth one to be 'Episode 6.' Those are the two things I think I can say."
While Joby Harold did not give out any information about the show, his responses do reveal that we can expect a new season and that the last two episodes will be worth the wait.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow and consists of six episodes and is currently streaming on Disney+
