Nikamma box office
The Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty starrer Nikamma had released into the theatres on June 17 and was touted to be an all-an-all commercial entertainer. But right since its opening, the movie has failed to perform at the box office and has also opened to negative reviews from the fans. On its fourth day (June 21), the movie has just amassed Rs 1.61 crore which is an extremely disappointing performance.
The film earned just Rs 1.51 crore on its first weekend. Instead of witnessing a significant improvement, Nikamma only managed to garner Rs 1.61 crore on its fourth day. The Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty’s film is touted to be a disaster by the trade analysts now.
The movie had opened to a collection of Rs 51 lakh at the box office. The negative reviews by the critics and the fans furthermore gave a major disadvantage to the movie. Nikamma is expected to see very little scope for improvement now as it will be facing further stiff competition from the family entertainer Jugjugg Jeeyo which will be released on June 24. The movie also stars Shirley Setia, Abhimanyu Singh, and Samir Soni in the lead roles.
Nikamma has been helmed by Sabbir Khan. The movie is touted to be a Hindi remake of the Telugu film, Middle Class Abbayi which featured Nani. Bhumika Chawla and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. Desimartini’s review for Nikamma read, “Nikamma severely suffers in all aspects. If the loud, over-the-top, and cringe introduction and character development of the lead protagonist were not enough, the movie massively falters in the inculcation of even the most basic common sense and logic in all of its subplots. Be it Abhimanyu Dassani’s Adi explaining to the baddies why he won’t burn due to the LPG gas leakage or Shilpa Shetty’s Avni suddenly turning out to be a cop, in the end, you just find the chain of events and the dialogues bizarre and exasperating.”
