The extremely successful film Munjya has been in the news and also has been making news incessantly for many reasons than one. Besides the outstanding starcast, the film also boasts of a spectacular storyline. If these weren’t reasons good enough for the film to be a blockbuster, the film also, has to its credit, of having India’s first and very own CGI generated animated character!
The film’s leading pair, Abhay Varma and Sharvari are now touted to be the hottest on-screen couple right now and their on-screen chemistry is one of the most talked about one in recent times. But, did you know that the role played by Abhay Varma in the film was initially offered to Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor!

Yes… you heard it right! This information was revealed by none other than Abhay Varma himself in an interview with Mid Day. He said (read ‘revealed’) that his character was supposed to be a girl earlier and that it was to be played by Shraddha Kapoor, and before her, by Alia Bhatt! He also added that his character in the film went through changes over four-five years. On a lighter vein, Abhay said that he was the only hero to have replaced heroines!
Speaking about how he bagged the said role, Abhay said that the film’s producer Dinesh Vijan and the film’s director Aditya Sarpotdar chose him after they conducted auditions spanning eight to 10 months. He added that the film’s director (Aditya Sarpotdar) wanted to gauge how he portrayed fear. He also recalled the memorable sentence that Aditya Sarpotdar had told him! Abhay said that Aditya Sarpotdar told him that they don’t believe in taking only stars and that they believe in making stars, and he (Abhay) will become one after Munjya!
As for the film, besides Abhay Varma and Sharvari, the film also stars Mona Singh, Sathyaraj and Suhas Joshi in important roles.
