Lucky Baskhar OTT release date confirmed: How to watch Dulquer Salmaan’s latest hit online

Netflix on Monday confirmed the digital premiere date for Dulquer Salmaan's latest movie, Lucky Baskhar. The much-anticipated film will be available for streaming from November 28, marking its OTT arrival just under four weeks after its theatrical release on October 31.

This quick transition from theatres to digital platforms aligns with the prevailing trend in South Indian cinema, where films often hit streaming services shortly after completing a four-week theatrical window. Unlike Bollywood films, which typically maintain an eight-week gap, South movies have embraced shorter theatrical exclusivity periods.

However, Malayalam cinema has shown resistance to this trend, sticking to longer theatrical runs despite new releases shortening box office lifespans. This approach has paid off, as Malayalam films have recorded the highest theatrical revenue this year, proving the enduring value of extended runs.

Other South Indian film industries, however, have adapted comfortably to early OTT releases, thanks to robust box office performances within the first few weeks of release. This has particularly benefited films like Lucky Baskhar, which performed exceedingly well during its theatrical run.

Directed and written by Venky Atluri, Lucky Baskhar has proven to be a much-needed success for Dulquer Salmaan following the lukewarm reception of King of Kotha. The film is Dulquer’s third consecutive Telugu hit, following the massive successes of Mahanati and Sita Ramam.

Released on October 31 during the Deepavali festivities, Lucky Baskhar received glowing reviews and resonated with audiences. The film tells the story of an ordinary bank employee who manipulates the system to his advantage, creating an engaging and relatable scam narrative that has struck a chord with viewers.
