Katrina Kaif & Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas gets postponed once again, here's the new release date

Ever since Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas was announced, fans have been eagerly waiting to see the duo sharing the screen space for the first time. Though the film’s shooting wrapped up in January earlier this year, the film is not yet ready to arrive in theatres. The makers though announced the release date to be December 8, but they have now further postponed it to January 12, 2024.

In a joint statement, the team informed fans that they are truly committed to deliver a exceptional cinematic experience. “We have made this film with a lot of love and passion, like every filmmaker does. However, with the back-to-back movie releases and packed the last two months of 2023, we have taken the decision to extend the season of joy and bring our film to the theatres on January 12, 2024,” read the statement.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film is a collaboration that combines the vision and expertise of two esteemed production houses, Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures. Meanwhile, the movie was announced in 2021 and it was was supposed to release on Christmas last year but it got delayed. Katrina had shared the first poster of the film and had written, "We wanted to release the film this Christmas, but there is a twist. See you in the cinemas soon.”

Merry Christmas is a crime thriller drama that revolves around an uneventful day that turns Katrina and Vijay's worlds upside down. According to a report in Mid-Day, the edgy thriller is about an event that takes place on Christmas Eve, a night when anything can happen. Meanwhile, Katrina shot this movie after marrying Vicky Kaushal, hence it is much-awaited movie. Besides this, she was recently seen in Tiger 3, directed by Maneesh Sharma. The movie grossed Rs 169 crore in the domestic market so far.
