Karan Johar, son of film producer Yash Johar, stepped into Bollywood as a filmmaker with romantic drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The 1998 film not only brought unprecedented success to the production house Dharma Productions but also etched into audience’s hearts for its heartwarming love story and amazing cast. The film features Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji in lead roles, while Salman Khan made an extended special appearance. Recently, Karan revealed who would he cast if he was to remake his iconic film.
During a quick-fire session of The Week magazine, Karan revealed that he would like to cast Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai remake. He was also asked to name celebrities who will fit the bill for certain biopics. For Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s biopic, Karan took legendary Amitabh Bachchan’s name, while for billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita Ambani’s biopic, he suggested Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s name. He took Konkana Sen Sharma’s name for political figure Mahua Moitra’s biopic, while Vicky Kaushal’s name for UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s biopic. He found it hard to look for perfect star to play Sridevi in her biopic and later took Janhvi Kapoor’s name.
Further, Karan made several shocking revelations about film business and celebrities.When asked if the box numbers are highly exaggerated, he said, “sometimes”. He was also asked if the celebrities’ tweets for film reviews are true, to which he said, “no, not all the time.” About paparazzi being paid for clicking pictures of celebrities at airport or outside or at Karan Johar’s party, he said its true. He was also asked ‘Date Marry Kill’ question with options Sidharth Malhotra, Ranveer Singh and Fawad Khan, and he refused to comment. Further, he said The Khans of Bollywood-Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman are irreplaceable.

Meanwhile, Karan is currently hosting his popular chat show Koffee With Karan Season 8. He recently invited veterans Neetu Kapoor and Zeenat Aman on the show. On the film front, he directed Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani which features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
