Suriya with Rajinikanth
Suriya is eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated fantasy-action period drama, Kanguva. It is set to hit the big screens on Children’s Day, November 14, 2024. The actor, who has been relentlessly promoting his film, recently opened up about some advice shared by Tamil superstar Rajinikanth 20 years ago.
Suriya recalls receiving advice from Rajinikanth
During a recent masterclass with Pinkvilla, the Kanguva star recalled Rajinikanth advising him on balancing action-oriented commercial films and content-driven movies in his career. Suriya shared that it was Rajinikanth's advice that he has adhered to for the past two decades. The actor recounted, “Rajinikanth sir once in a flight said, ‘You are a hero, and you are also an actor. You have to balance both. You can’t just do an action film or a commercial film and get comfortable. There has to be a balance between your choices because the audience expects both from you.’”
He further added, “That advice has stayed with me. I don’t know, maybe it was 20 years ago when he casually put it in my mind. So, I want to entertain people. I want to do a Singam, but I also want to do a 7 Aum Arivu or Jai Bhim. I want to do both.”
The actor also revealed that he considers himself fortunate to have played a wide variety of roles in his career, ranging from commercial heroes to roles in content-driven films.
