This project seems to be an entirely new venture in Mani Ratnam's filmography, from its title to the vibe and the expectations set by the teaser, which introduces Kamal’s character, Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar.
The promo hints that Thug Life may be set against a dystopian backdrop, with Kamal portraying a legendary thug known for his exceptional combat skills.
In addition to playing the lead, Kamal has also produced Thug Life under his banner, Raaj Kamal Films International. The film has now entered post-production and is expected to hit screens early next year.
There was initial speculation that Thug Life might release during the Pongal holiday, but the latest buzz suggests the producers are aiming for a summer release.
