Kajol says ‘still feeling the same’ as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai clocks 26 years; shares pics of 'Anjali'
It was exactly on 16 October 1998, when the Karan Johar directed Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released. Little did anyone predict or anticipate that the film will go onto write its name in golden letters on the pages of Bollywood. Today, as the film clocks 26 years, the film’s leading lady Kajol took to social media and shared a bunch of pics as ‘Anjali’.
After posting the pics, she captioned the same as, Still feeling the same .. even tho I seem to have grown up 26 years later! #kkhh #rahulisacheater #friendship #anjali #26years’. In no time, the post was filled with comments with many who have seemingly lived their lives watch this film.
One user wrote, ‘This movie and you in it shaped who I am. You made me feel so seen and like I had a place in the world. Kkhh was my happy place, a safe haven. Thank you for 26 years of pyaar and dosti. Kajol will always be the Anjali of our hearts. Rahul Anjali ka fir se jhagada ho gaya, yani ki pyar gehra Hai tabhi to jhagad ke dost ban jaate Hain. When will we see you again on-screen with Shah Rukh Khan?’.
Another user posted, ‘Can this film ever become old? It had and has and will always have all the emotions that will touch your heart. Be it the way the film portrayed a complex love triangle with such simplicity involving Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), Anjali (Kajol), and Tina (Rani Mukerji), all of whom explored the emotions of friendship, love, and loss.
Another user wrote, How can anyone forget the film and the characters. The film, very aptly captured the transition from carefree college days to the complexities of adulthood and the responsibilities that come with it. There was also an underpinning of a very strong bond of friendship between Rahul and Anjali and a critique of lines being drawn between friends and romantic love. Even in today’s digital times, the very mention of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai seems to be saying that destiny has its role in bringing people together, even years after separation and unseen circumstances’.
There was another user who wrote, ‘The way in which the film focused on the deep bond between Tina and her daughter is beyond times. Added to that, the hit tracks of the film like Ladki Badi Anjani Hai, Yeh Ladka Hai Deewana and of course the title track makes us go wek on the knees everytime we even hear the film’s title!
A netizen, who seemed to have seen the film many times till now, posted, ‘The movie KKHH greatly influenced the fashion world during the late 90's as its cool college wear and fashionable sarees were everyone's craze amongst youngsters. For me and many like me, it was less of a film and more of an emotional journey. One would always end up laughing and crying and reaching out to that feel-good nostalgia. All in all, the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, was, is and forever will be timeless’.
The film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherji, Salman Khan, Sana Saeed, Anupam Kher, Archana Puran Singh and others in all important roles. While the film was directed by Karan Johar, it was produced by the late Yash Johar. The film was one of the major blockbuster hits of all times.
