Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna- Karan Johar celebrates 18 years of the Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol starrer; calls it 'best decision'
It was exactly 11 August 2006 when an extremely emotionally romantic film titled Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna got released. The film was extremely special in many ways than one.
Today, as the film clocked 30 years of its release, Karan Johar took to social media and shared an extremely heartfelt post about the film. He wrote, ‘KANK was the road that I need not have taken but it was the best decision I made to take it...till date!’.
He continued, ‘This film not only gave me the best of the times with my absolutely phenomenal cast that honestly, were more my family - but it also gave me the courage to tell stories that I put my conviction into about relationships that were messy but beautiful...just like life? Here’s to 18 years of #KabhiAlvidaNaaKehna @amitabhbachchan @kirronkhermp @iamsrk #RaniMukerji @bachchan @realpz @dharmamovies’.
In no time, there was the ace designer Manish Malhotra who commented ‘A film before its times .. love KANK and all those wonderful memories of our long long New York shoot ..’ There was also Abhishek Bachchan, who commented ‘Best memories’.
Another user named Natasha wrote, ‘KANK was a masterpiece that was way ahead of its time. What's beautiful about this film is how REAL it is despite it being wrapped in the most unreal bollywood packaging. KANK was really a Divine Channelling. It's my favourite KJo film after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which, thinking back, was also a Divine Channeling... Of the typical Twin Flame Dynamic / Masculine + Feminine Integration. KJo, you're a lightworker and you prolly don't even know it’.
As for the film, those who have seen it will agree to the fact that it was totally different from all the till-then released films made by Karan Johar. The film’s plot of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna dealt with infidelity and extramarital affairs which was indeed a departure from Karan’s style of filmmaking. Even though the film went onto become a major hit at the box office, there were many who just could not fathom the fact that this was indeed a Karan Johar made film!
The film starred an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta, Kirron Kher and others. The film was produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, under the banner of Dharma Productions.
