Josh actor Sharad Kapoor breaks silence on sexual harassment case by 32-year-old woman, says 'I did not know when...'
Bollywood actor Sharad Kapoor, who is best known for his roles in films like Josh (Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer), and others like Jai Ho, Tamanna, Lakshya etc… Even though he has not been seen that often on the silver screen of late, there is one recent piece of news on him which states that he has been accused of sexually harassing a woman, per a report in IANS.
As a step in that direction, a case has now been registered against the actor Sharad Kapoor on the grounds of alleged misbehaviour and also improperly touching a woman. The said case has been filed in Khar Police Station in Mumbai. The complainant happens to be a 32-year-old woman.
As per a report in Republic World, it has been stated that the aforementioned lady (who happens to be the victim) had alleged that Sharad Kapoor had called her to his house. And after she reached there, he not only tried to misbehave with her, but also forcibly touched her inappropriately.
The report stated that the aforementioned lady had explained her side of the story by stating that she had come in contact with Sharad through Facebook. Post that, she had even (reportedly) spoken to him through the medium of a video call. That’s when Sharad Kapoor had told her that he wanted to meet her to discuss the shooting.
This was then followed by him sending his location to the lady on her phone. He even asked her to come to the office in Khar. But, when she reached there, she realised that it was not his office, but his residence. After she knocked on the door, she found a man opening the door, while Sharad had (reportedly) asked her to come to his bedroom. And, the same evening, he had even reportedly sent a WhatsApp message to the specified woman and had even used foul language.
As for the case, an FIR has been registered against Sharad Kapoor under the sections 74 (Assault or use of criminal force against a woman), 75 (sexual harassment) and 79 (insult the modesty of any woman) of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, which was previously called as Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, in an interview with The Free Press Journal, Sharad went onto rubbish the claims made by the aforementioned woman. He said, “I did not know when the case was filed against me. I had just returned from New York. The police contacted me, but right now, I am in Kolkata. The incident did not occur; how can I take anyone's name forcefully?”
