Ahead of the release of Nushrratt Bharuccha ’s Janhit Mein Jaari , the film producers have made an announcement that the ticket prices for the first-day show will be just Rs 100 which will be applicable in multiplexes across India. However, the move doesn’t seem to go down well with the certain multiplexes as they are wondering about its implications.
A clear picture of how the offer will be implemented at all multiplexes has not been given by the producers to the exhibitors. While some of the exhibitors are thinking of selling Rs 100 tickets only for shows before 12 noon, the others are deciding on pricing it for the 2 or 3 rows in the front only. Even a few multiplex chains are yet to decide if they are going to screen the movie at the said rates. However, the discussion is on as the producers cannot alone decide the pricing of the tickets as it is a joint call between exhibitors and distributors. They are trying their best to convince all cinemas to price their tickets at the same rates for all the shows on releasing day i.e June 10.
As per reports from BollywoodHungama, the cinemas in elite areas will keep the ticket prices from Rs 400 or Rs 500. “Some cinemas in our country are located in elite areas and attract elite clientele. Moreover, some cinemas exclusively have recliners or sofa seats only. The ticket prices in these theatres start from Rs. 400 or Rs. 500. Such cinemas obviously won’t reduce the ticket price to Rs. 100 to show Janhit Mein Jaari,” said a source close to the development.
While a senior official from a multiplex chain told the news portal that different pricing at different multiplexes will make viewers upset. On the other side, Devang Sampat, CEO, Cinepolis India said that they will be implementing the offer. He, however, mentioned that recliner seats wouldn’t be sold at Rs. 100 and that only the normal seats would be sold at reduced rates.
Meanwhile, Janhit Mein Jaari’s production house Bhanushali Studios Limited cleared the air saying that the offer will indeed be implemented, as promised by them. One of the spokespeople told BollywoodHungama that idea of selling tickets priced at Rs. 100 only for morning shows or the first two rows is completely incorrect. They have confirmed the same from distributors, however, they clarified that the said offer is not applicable for recliners, sofa seats, etc. Also for certain premium multiplexes, the tickets will be sold at Rs. 150.
