James Franco faces backlash following Golden Globe win: Accusations of sexual misconduct spread on Twitter

During his appearance on The Late Show, Colbert directly asked Franco about the allegations. The actor responded by expressing his support for the Time's Up and #MeToo movements, acknowledging the power of the voices that emerged during the awards ceremony.

Addressing the specific accusations, Franco stated, ""First, I want to say I do support it... Look, I was so excited to win but being in that room that night was incredible. It was powerful, and there were incredible voices, and I support it, I support change.""

Regarding Ally Sheedy's tweets, Franco expressed confusion, saying, ""OK, first of all, I have no idea what I did to Ally Sheedy. I directed her in a play off-Broadway. I had nothing but a great time with her. Total respect for her. I have no idea why she was upset... I can’t speak for her.""

Franco then addressed the other allegations, emphasizing his commitment to taking responsibility for his actions. He stated, ""The things that I heard that were on Twitter are not accurate, but I completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice... I don’t want to shut them down in any way. It's, I think, a good thing, and I support it.""

Colbert inquired about the possibility of having a discussion outside of social media and finding a way for reconciliation between two individuals with different perspectives. Franco responded by expressing his willingness to make restitution if he had done something wrong. He emphasized the importance of listening and learning, acknowledging that he does not have all the answers but is open to changing his perspective.
